Cincinnati Summer Mission Tour 2012

This summer THRIVE Student Ministry will be heading to Cincinnati, Ohio. for a week of life changing missions. We will leave Saturday June 16th and return Saturday June 23rd. Students that have completed the 6th grade can attend. Each day will be spent impacting the surrounding area of Cincinnati through mission efforts like kids clubs and sports camps. Friday afternoon we will be going to Paramount’s Kings Island Amusement Park. We will be lodging at Urbancrest Baptist Church they have fantastic facilities and are really excited about partnering with us. We estimate the total cost between $200-$225 per student. The $100 deposit is DUE NOW and the remainder will be due at the Parent/Student Mission Tour Meeting May 30th.
MissionTour Training Sunday Nights 6pm Feb.12-Mar.18
MissionTour Training starts this Sunday night at 6pm. 6 weeks of teaching students how to share their faith on the mission field. If you are planning on attending the Mission Tour this summer then you must attend. Training is essential to having an awesome trip that produces salvation’s!

The BIG Breakfast is our chance to gather as students, parents, and leaders to celebrate the impact that THRIVE has had on our students over the last year. YOU DON’T WANT TO MISS THIS!!! We start serving breakfast at 9:45am. We will share a short moment to reflect on 2011 and look forward to 2012. Then you have a special reserved section in our 11am worship for us to celebrate as a family! If your student is involved in THRIVE Student Ministry we highly encourage you to make a special effort to attend this breakfast and worship.

TRAVEL INFO:
Leaving from GFBC 5pm Friday, Jan. 13
- 15 passenger van will be leaving GHS after the JV games for those playing/cheering
- Chris Burgess is the driver (864.918.7947)
- 15 passenger van will be leaving Clinton after Varsity games for those playing/cheering
- Robbie Gravley is the driver (864.444.3652)
Returning to GFBC between 5:30-6:30pm Monday, Jan. 16
- 15 passenger van will be returning Monday around noon for basketball players ONLY
BEFORE WE LEAVE and FYI:
- You need to have paid your $85
- EVERYONE bring your luggage pieces to church for loading before 4:45pm on Friday
- Yes, even the ones riding the vans!!!!

- Spending money… there is an arcade, sams corner, the peir, and other places we may go

- Negative attitudes
- Tobacco, drugs, alcohol, unauthorized prescription drugs
- Anything of high value that could get broken (ipad, computer, etc….)
- Lance has the right to send you home and to confiscate distractions at anytime!

-Leaving GFBC @ 5:30pm Friday, Jan. 13 (there will be late vans ONLY for athletes after the game)

Cost
-Early STUDENT REGISTRATION $75 per student (ends Jan.1)
-Late STUDENT REGISTRATION $85 per student

What to Bring and General Info.
- We are staying at The Garden City Beach Chapel and Retreat
- Bedding for a Single or a sleeping bag
- Clothes for the MEGA BEACH RELAY (it will be crazy, nasty, fun)
- Towels
- Money for 4 meals (supper Fri, lunch Sat, lunch Sun, lunch Mon.)
- Meal stops usually include fast food or Moe’s
- Personal Snacks
- 1 suitcase and 1 carry on per person

Surrender (Sunday Nights 6pm Sept.25-Nov.6)
Sundays 6-7pm
Surrender typically implies weakness, loss and defeat. Can you actually gain something by giving up? Jesus said that the only way to truly live is to fully surrender your life to Him.
In these Sunday night sessions, students share real-life stories about their own struggles and triumphs in surrendering to Christ. Francis Chan examines Scripture to show students that it is only through surrendering to God that they can become who God wants them to be.
